At any given time, there are a handful of motivated college students in the D+P internship program. We recently sat down with Joe Panichelli, one of our Monday & Wednesday interns, for a quick Q&A session. Read on below to learn more about Joe!
Give us a little bit of background about yourself!
I am from West Chester, Pennsylvania about 40 minutes from the city, and I have always loved visiting Philadelphia with friends and family. I am a massive sports fan, and I follow all of the Philadelphia sports teams, but I specifically love the 76ers. I grew up playing sports in middle school and high school, which transitioned to me writing about sports in college, which then prompted me to become interested in both journalism and digital media at St. Joseph’s University, where I will be graduating in May of next year.
Describe yourself in three words.
Diligent, Dedicated, Dependable.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
When I was growing up I probably wanted to be a soccer player, but I know for a couple years I wanted to be Batman (I still may pursue that.)
What’s something few people knew about you, but you wish they did?
I am typically pretty transparent with my interests or passions, and I tend to speak freely and openly when I engage with others. I’d say most people who know me or have worked with me would attest to that.
If you could give a piece of advice to your high school/younger self, what would it be?
If I could give one piece of advice to my high school self it would be to apply myself to foreign hobbies and create my own avenues of interest. Too often in those years I may have felt limited to athletics and was uncomfortable to the idea of trying things that were unfamiliar to what my friends and I were doing. You should always be trying new things, finding new adventures, and breaking the mold.
