Give us a little bit of background about yourself!
I’m Sylvie Colón, and I’m a senior public relations student from Temple University. I currently serve as chapter president of Temple PRSSA and vice president of Temple Pre-Law Society. Last summer, I was an intern at a digital marketing agency in Bucks County–my hometown! Outside of my internship, I work as an owl ambassador (aka tour guide) for Temple and a peer mentor for the Klein College of Media and Communication.
Describe yourself in three words.
Dependable, motivated and social.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
For the longest time, I wanted to be a Rockette and perform at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. I would take the train with my mom and grandma to see the Christmas Spectacular every winter when I was younger. I still meet the height requirement, so the dream isn’t dead yet…just need to start practicing those high kicks!
What’s something few people knew about you, but you wish they did?
I enjoy making long-form video content. When I was little, I made music videos on Video Star with my neighbors. In college, I started travel vlogging, but I usually keep it to myself and friends. My favorite vlog I’ve made was from my trip to London with Klein Global Opportunities.
If you could give a piece of advice to your high school/younger self, what would it be?
It all works out in the end! I spent a lot of time wondering if I was doing the “right thing.” All of the decisions I made in high school led me to where I am today, and I couldn’t feel more fulfilled. I have incredibly supportive friends and family, I’m very involved in school, and of course – I’m here at D+P!
