Give us a little bit of background about yourself!
Hi everyone! I’m Maia, and I’m currently a senior at Villanova University, majoring in communications with a specialization in public relations and advertising and a minor in writing and rhetoric. I grew up in Honolulu, Hawai’i, and last summer, I had the opportunity to intern for a local communication firm, Bennet Group, which sparked my excitement for a career in strategic communications. My favorite thing to do is spend time at the beach with my friends, family and most of all, my dog!
Describe yourself in three words.
If I were to describe myself in three words, I would say I am dependable, thoughtful and adventurous.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Growing up, I wanted to be either a writer or a marine biologist (two very different paths, I know). Clearly, I stuck with writing more than I did marine biology!
What’s something few people knew about you, but you wish they did?
When I was a junior in high school, I studied in Rennes, France and lived with a host family for an entire year. That experience, while challenging at times, was the best thing I’ve done for myself and ignited a passion for seeing and experiencing the world.
If you could give a piece of advice to your high school/younger self, what would it be?
Something that I wish I could tell my high school self is that rather than worrying about the future or comparing yourself to others, put in the time and effort to get yourself to where you want to be.
